I was listening to yet another Christian
program bag on Democrats this morning.
Whatever happened to separation of
church and state?
Saying things like the Democrats are
not walking in line with God..now they
are the judge too. All because Democrats
are pro choice..hmmm funny doesn't the
Word say we have free will choice?
Not that their aren't consequences to
our choices but, doesn't the Word say
we have free will choice?
They stated how wrong it is the Democrats
support gay rights..that's not
what I heard..what is said is the gay
community has rights & we shouldn't
pass judgement. Hmmm again, doesn't
the Word say, "to love ALL mankind &
it is not our place to pass judgement?"
Not to mention isn't this country
founded on the Constitution & the
Bill of Rights and it's foundation is
..equality for all..again hmmm...
sounds like the Word to me.
And don't put words in my mouth I
am not passing judgement - just
observation of what I am hearing.
Have you ever read the Constitution
and Bill of Rights? If not, indulge me..
read them, read in His Word on grace,
forgiveness, mercy, and love of All
mankind (just to mention a few) and
then listen to the foundation of where
Hilary & Obama stand...hmmmm see
any similarities?
Now go to His word & the history
on the Roman rule Empire....who
does that sound like? I don't know
about you but, I like my rights and
I don't want anyone having rule over
my life but, God, His Son Jesus, and
the Holy Ghost. God gave man authority
over this earth, not authority over
one another. That is God's alone.
Which is why I say from what I see in
Jesus teachings he must have been the
first Democratic leader that walked this
earth. Our Democratic leaders sure do
speak a lot of the same language...that
of moderation and "Somewhere
In Between" rich and poor, heaven
& hell is where peace and freedom reside.
And That is my point..smile

If being Democrat means that one embraces all people, then I'd say yes, Jesus would definitely be a Dem! Here's a quote from Rev. Peter Gomes on that subject:
If you look at Jesus in the New Testament, you will discover that he spends almost a disproportionate amount of time with the people who were on the fringes of his society.
And so, if he came back today, we might wonder, who are the people on the fringes of our society with whom he would be spending time? And my guess is he wouldn't be spending time with most of us who are at church all of the time. I don't think he'd be spending time with most of the theologians or the radio or TV evangelists.
I think he'd be spending time with those people whom we tend to marginalize. He'd still be spending time with the prostitutes. I think he'd be spending time with minorities of every kind -- racial and sexual and others -- and I think we might be surprised to discover that nothing on that point has changed, as far as Jesus is concerned
